Morris “Mo” Speller has been living in Baltimore for a little over a decade. He is originally from Pennsylvania but spent most of his childhood in St. Louis, Mo. Mo was raised by a mother who was an Episcopal Priest and a father who is a retired pipe organ builder. As a child, Mo frequently complained about how much time he was expected to be at church. As a transgender adult, Mo feels lucky to have been raised in Episcopal churches who taught that LGBTQ people are beloved by God and who supported him as a young queer person. Mo has too many hobbies including woodworking, gardening, and playing guitar. He also enjoys singing, dancing, and playing with his two small children. He studies and writes about urban history, in particular the history of racial discrimination in housing policy and real estate practices.
